Senior Skip Day

Written by Reagan Braun

One tradition that occurs every year is Senior Skip Day, which sounds just like the name. Seniors skip the school day and choose how they want to spend their day.

Darby’s Senior Skip Day usually falls the Monday after prom, which would have been May 9th, but multiple AP tests were happening throughout the week and most seniors wouldn’t have been able to take part in it.

The class cabinet ended up moving Senior Skip Day to Friday, which made seniors have a three-day weekend going into their last week of school.

I took part in Senior Skip Day on Friday, along with two of my friends, Taylor Gyurko and Emily Decker. We decided to spend the day at Polaris and went from store to store. We all did some damage to our wallets, especially Emily, even though she said she was going to spend the least amount out of us three. We also ended up going to Target to end the day. I feel a little guilty about spending the money, but that’s why returning exists.

Later in the day, I also got to hang out with my boyfriend, Gabe, who’s also a senior, but he worked for most of the day. He came over to my house and then we went to Graeter’s and both got Cookie Monster sundaes. We just hung out at my house, because we were both tired.

Senior Skip Day is a tradition I think every senior should do because it’s fun and a cool way to celebrate the end of your senior year.
