The graduation ceremony is the most important event for high school seniors; it is the exact time when they graduate from high school. Most students have been looking forward to it ever since they started school, and now for the class of 2022, it is finally here. Graduation brings intense feelings of both happiness and sadness for the past and future. But most of all, it brings the feeling of excitement for what is to come in the very near future.
Graduation day for Hilliard Darby High School this year takes place on Friday, May 27th. Seniors are supposed to arrive from 6:00-6:15 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. This will all take place at the Value City Arena/Jerome Schottenstein Center.
Before graduation day, there must be a practice graduation run-through. This will take place on the day before, on Thursday, May 26th. It will start at 10:00 a.m. and be held at Hilliard Darby’s Main Gym and Field House. This is a required practice and all students who plan to be a part of the real graduation ceremony must attend the practice in order to prepare for it.
There are a few rules for the graduation ceremony, starting with the dress code. All graduates must wear the approved graduation uniform of cap, gown, and tassel. Underneath the gown, students must dress nicely and formally. There are also guidelines for arrival, the ceremony itself, and after it is over. The full version of this can be found on the Hilliard Darby website.
The graduation ceremony itself will proceed with the following: the arrival of graduates, friends, and family members; seating and preparation; speeches; name-calling and diploma retrieving; conclusion statements; and the leaving of everyone. This is a very important day for the class of 2022.
We interviewed someone who graduated from Darby last year. First, we asked, how did you feel about your graduation? He responded, “It was a great experience and it was exciting to be done with high school and move on to the next phase of my life.” We are sure that most seniors this year have similar feelings about their upcoming graduation, which is a very special day for them.
