Spider-Man: No Way Home Review

Written by Jack Kessler

2021 was a big year for superhero movies; we received titles like Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Zac Snyder’s Justice League, Black Widow, and Shang Chi. While some were better than others, I would say the biggest and best superhero movie to come out of 2021 was Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the 3rd installment of Spider-Man in the Marvel Studios franchise. In this movie, Spider-Man fights some of his greatest enemies, including his nemesis the Green Goblin. To reverse damages done in his previous movie Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter needs some help from Doctor Steven Strange. The twist is that in their attempts to fix the damage, they accidentally end up bringing in villains from other universes. This plot helps set up phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I really liked this movie. I loved the darker tone and found the character arcs were well thought out. The pace and the twists kept me on the edge of my seat. This movie gave everything a Spider-Man fan could want.

To see what other fans thought, I interviewed Santiago Daza, a senior at Darby High School. I first asked him what he thought of the movie. “I thought the movie was really good and that it definitely exceeded my expectations.” I then asked who his favorite Spider-Man was. Santi went with Toby Maguire, a solid answer. My third question was what he hopes to see in the next Spider-Man trilogy. “I think Tom Holland will be too old to play Spider-Man, so it would definitely be cool to see Miles Morales.” My final question was who his favorite villain in the movie was. “Definitely William Dafoe’s Green Goblin.”

I think this was the best movie to come out of 2021. Fans have been waiting for this movie since it was announced pre-pandemic. There was so much hype all around the world for this movie, as I actually watched it in France. It was so cool to see the reactions in the theater. The amount of life this film also brought back to cinemas is also mind-blowing. Spider-Man is and will always be my favorite superhero and No Way Home might just be my favorite Spider-Man movie to date.
