New Years Resolutions

Written by Lilly Hoening

When turning into the New Year, one of the most popular things people do is make a New Year’s Resolution. This is something people try doing throughout the year. Resolutions are something people work hard at and some just don’t end up working at all. Mainly people have goals about working out, and making money, so now I went and asked some people what their New Year's Resolutions are.

The first person I interviewed was one of my friends who’s a senior at Bradley High School. She stated her New Year's Resolution is to, “Become more physically active and to get her health back under control.” I asked her how long she thinks her resolution will last. She said, “I think I will be able to make it through the year because I have had a mindset on this resolution for a while and I have tons of people supporting me as well.” I then questioned her about what she thinks will keep her motivated and she said the end picture is keeping her going knowing she’ll see a different version of herself.

After I interviewed her I interviewed a few others. The top New Year's resolutions were to find peace in their life (such as balancing out school, work, her faith, and family time), and another thing people said was to go to the gym (get healthier physically and mentally, working on being healthier, and eating better). The average time people expected their resolution to last was around 3/4th’s of the year. They said towards the end of the year “People either push on and keep going super hard or they tend to give up.” People tend to make goals that aren’t realistic toward what they can work on.
