New Year Resolutions

Students have returned from break, and it is currently the beginning of 2023, which means new goals are set for people to achieve and accomplish. A new year is like a new beginning. We feel that we need to make new changes in our life, start a new month, and say goodbye to old habits, problems, and difficulties. The beginning of the new year is when people are the most focused on their goals, but as the year progresses, they start to forget more about those goals and aren’t as motivated to accomplish them.

The beginning of a new year should inspire people to start new beginnings and make the best changes in their lives, but this motivation should continue throughout the year and not fade after a few weeks or days. A few of my goals were to stay on top of my prayers and get a workout at least every day. These goals have stayed consistent so far, and I’m trying to keep them in my daily routine every day.

I asked sophomore Aisha Sattar what some of her goals were as we entered the new year! “My goal for the New Year is to be productive throughout the day rather than procrastinating on my work.” I also asked her how she plans on accomplishing these goals and staying motivated. “To accomplish this goal, I’m going to keep track of what I want to get done on a list, then tackle a task at a time and space out doing my work. To stay motivated, I’ll give myself breaks to stay consistent.”

One of my biggest struggles with my goals is staying motivated throughout the beginning, then starting to slack off with them as the year continues, but this year I believe I can change that. Overall, The New Year is when people set out goals for themselves, which is an excellent time for everyone!
