Darby Winter Band Concert

Last night, all three concert bands had their winter concert. I had gone to support my boyfriend, who’s in percussion, and other friends that were playing. Each band played three songs, and one was for their next upcoming concert on March the 11th.
Each band had a different vibe or feel and their songs showed that. Their songs also varied in length, as Concert Band, the lowest one, and Wind Ensemble, the highest, had the longest. The Wind Ensemble had an Aladdin piece, which was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. The Symphonic Band played a Phantom of the Opera piece and it was very good. I recognized some of it and all the bands did great overall.
The concert they have on the 11th is an important one because they’ll be graded by judges. They’ll play about two or three pieces and will be scored on those pieces. They’ll be given a grade on how they play and receive feedback on how they can improve. It’s different from a marching band competition because there are no awards but just feedback for improvement.
They have two upcoming concerts in May. The first is on the 12th, which is their Spring Band concert and the second is on the 13th, the spring Jazz Band concert. I plan to attend both of them to support my friends and boyfriend because they all put a lot of work into performing these pieces.
